The Story of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

In the mid-1960s, a growing number of non-English-speaking Chinese immigrants arrived in Chinatown. There were few supports to help them get established in their new home. To address this gap, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. was created in 1973 by a group of passionate volunteers. A year later, they opened a small storefront in Chinatown. Despite few staff in the early years, they managed to serve hundreds of new immigrants from many different ethnic groups. Today, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. works with immigrants of all ages and from every country. It is now one of the largest social service agencies in British Columbia.
